Emirati soldiers in Yemen congratulate UAE on Eid Al Adha

They prayed to Allah Almighty to continue to grant the UAE and its people further blessings.

The UAE Armed Forces serving in the line of duty in Yemen have conveyed their congratulations on Eid Al Adha to The President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members, and the Rulers of the Emirates as well to the families of the UAE martyrs.

Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), they prayed to Allah Almighty to continue to grant the UAE and its people further blessings, progress, safety and security.

“We reiterate our allegiance to the nation and its wise leadership, and we will always endeavour tirelessly to keep our nation’s flag flying gloriously high at all fronts,” said soldier Saif Mohamed Ahmed.

Nasser Rashid underlined the soldiers’ determination to defend their brothers in Yemen and to promote the UAE’s values of justice, love, peace and coexistence, as well as its efforts to defend righteousness and support oppressed people.

“We underline our loyalty to the UAE leadership and people, to protect the country and keep its flag high at all times and under all circumstances,” said Hatem Saeed, another serviceman.

Schools in Dubai close early because of heavy rain

Schools have sent messages to parents.

Some schools in Dubai are dispersing early after heavy rain resulted in water logging on few roads, and caused heavy traffic for rush-hour commuters.

Schools have communicated to parents that children will be sent home early.

Khaleej Times has seen messages from Gems Winchester School – Dubai, Gems Our Own Indian School, and Dubai Scholars school.

“Dear Parent, Please be informed that WIN Bus will depart early from school at 12.10pm due to Rain. Please make arrangements for your child to be picked up at the drop off point-STS,” a message from Gems Winchester said.

“Early dispersal today – FS1 and FS2 buses will leave at 9.30am and Year 1 to 11 will leave at 11am,” Dubai Scholars said.

Flights delayed due to waterlogging at Dubai airport

Passengers urged to check flight status on website.

Several inbound and outbound flights at Dubai International Airport (DXB) were delayed on Wednesday morning due to water logging in some parts of the airport brought about by heavy rains.

“Dubai International (DXB) is experiencing operational disruption and water logging in some parts of the facility due to the heavy rains this morning,” a DXB spokesperson confirmed to Khaleej Times.
“We urge customers to check for updated flight information on our website www.dubaiairports.ae or websites of their respective airlines. The safety and comfort of our passengers is our top priority and Dubai Airports is working with service partners at DXB to normalise operations and minimise inconvenience to our customers,” the spokesperson added.

Customers can also call flight information on +971 4 2166666 to get updates.
The UAE woke up to a wet Wednesday morning as many parts of the country were drenched by rains of varying degrees.

The authorities have taken all necessary measures to streamline traffic during the unstable weather conditions, but appealed to motorists to leave for work early to avoid congestion on roads.
“Drivers are being urged to exercise caution during unsettled weather conditions,” Dubai Police told the motorists.

The Sharjah Police has also urged motorists to be cautious when driving in rainy conditions and abide by the safety instructions and regulation to avoid any accidents.
